CSS belongs to two Jewish movements: Reconstruction and Renewal. Rabbi Laurie attended the Reconstruction seminary. Our fellow congregant, Dorith Steinberg, is attending the Renewal seminary. The synagogue has members that identify with either or both. The Jewish Telegraphic Agency recently ran a story about the roots of Renewal and the current state of the movement and speculation about it’s future. I think the story is important enough to share with you in this week’s Shabbat Gathering newsletter.
