When I was a kid, I looked forward to the summer just like all kids do. I hid out during the hot and muggy days in my hometown's Carnegie Library and enjoyed whiling away the day in between the cool stacks of books. At night, I looked forward to watching the summer season of television. I could watch reruns of my favorite shows or catch up on other shows I had ignored.

Today is a day for a rerun. On August 2, some of us will be observing Tisha b'Av, what's generally accepted to be the saddest day on the Jewish calendar. In 2022, I wrote a newsletter about Tisha b'Av and, on reflection and inspection, it stands up rather well. So, rather than trying to re-invent the wheel, I'm presenting to you an "encore edition" of that newsletter.
