This Shabbat is a super-delicious, art-packed, movement-optional, song-based service. It’s a special service called a Shabbat B'Yachad, or what we’ve called in the past a Shabbat Mini-Retreat. Here’s the lineup for the morning’s activities:

  • At 9:30a on November 8, the service will kick off with Shabbat Singing lead by Michelle Fisher.
  • At 10:00a, there are two breakout sessions available: a crafting workshop led by Deborah Kades and Torah Study for Beginners lead by Rabbi Laurie.
  • At 10:50a a second round of workshops led by Tae Kwon Do led by Dan Grabois and Shabbat Service for Beginners lead by Rabbi Laurie and Michelle.
  • At 11:40a, we’ll reconvene for the Torah Service and more shabbat singing.
  • At 12:15p, we’ll end with lunch. Bagels and schmears are provided and if you wish, bring a vegetarian potluck item to share.

So come on over to synagogue tomorrow morning and enjoy yourself.

And may it be for all of us a blessing.

See you tonight!
Mit vareme grusn,
(With warm regards,)

All my love,
brian.

How do you eat a pickle? Let me count the ways. You can crunch on a tangy kosher dill spread at a Jewish deli. You can dress up a burger, hot dog or sandwich with gherkin slices. If you’re really desperate, you can even just grab the briney vegetables straight out of the jar. And […]

Huge news: “The Nanny”’s social media pages just shared show creator and star Fran Drescher’s guide to Yiddish words, and honestly, all I want is for the TV star to narrate an entire Yiddish-to-English dictionary. It’s perfect. Drescher grew up Jewish in Queens, and she has shared with America some of the best Yiddishisms of […]
